Listed below are a number of letters written to various people and organisations who've shown inadequacies and/or bias in dealing with ABC issues. With the exception of an acknowledgement by the ABA of [E.], no reply has ever been received from any of them.
A. Senator Santoro
Senator Santoro has long been a critic of ABC reporting of matters like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Western involvement in Iraq and the Middle East generally. Having became a Minister for Ageing just before a number of allegations of rape of elderly women in nursing homes became public, Senator Santoro now has an early opportunity to demonstrate his capacity to monitor and regulate his own bureaucracy.

B. Senator Ian Campbell - Minister for Environment
Senator Campbell opposed the awarding of the 2004 Eureka Prize for Environmental Journalism to Four Corners for a group of three programmes, supposedly because "[He was] concerned that this prestigious award, sponsored by my Department, has been given to a story that may not have met the highest standards of journalism." Compare that with WA FABC's criticisms of Channel Seven's Today Tonight at [D.] below.

C. Iraq as a Precedent for ABC Coverage of the Iran Issue
As it increasingly appears that Iran is to be dealt with in much the same way as was Iraq, it is important that the ABC’s independence be defended against the inevitable attacks by the Hard Right lobby groups, Howard Ministers, and their other cronies.

D. ACMA's Inadequate Handling of Media Watch Complaints
Media Watch recently criticised ACMA’s failure to advise them of – or even to publicise – ACMA’s findings with regard to a complaint regarding a Today Tonight item “Worlds Apart”, which has been criticised by Media Watch in its segment "Opaque New Regulator"
E. ABA's Inadequate Handling of Alston's 68 Complaints
That Howard Government effort at intimidation was helped by the apparent ignorance of both the ICRP and ABA both of elementary journalism and of natural justice.
